Eerie and Atmospheric. This novel is a fever dream in the best way possible and the unsettling journey I’ve come to expect from this author. We follow Macy Mullins to her three-day job opportunity as a temporary caretaker of a property on the heavily wooded Oregon coast. Her responsibilities include some peculiar tasks, but the pay is too good to say no to a few odd requests. Macy has suffered misfortune and could use this much-needed win to improve her and her little sister’s lives. She can surely endure any situation for three days, right?! Right??!
I highly recommend this novel to fans of atmospheric horror . . . stories packed with spooky tension and suspense.
I thank NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of The Caretaker for my unbiased evaluation. 4.5 stars
