I love the premise of this novel of secret privilege held within the influential and wealthy of Boston. A part of us always longs for inclusion and the elated feeling of being seen or valued. So much so that when a unique offer is made by a clandestine organization, Taylor Adams lets her curiosity override any suspicions of its cryptic nature. The Knox captivates with its exclusivity, glamour, and time-honored rituals meant to ingratiate members both new and old. Behind this covert organization’s veil of secrecy lies a darkness they will do anything to keep concealed. Taylor is lured into the society by the mystery surrounding Vivian Lawrence’s disappearance, and she’s not leaving without answers. Perhaps the question she should be asking is . . . does anyone leave?

Don’t miss the author’s notes on this one. The inspirational and historical details add a bit of depth and interest to the overall concept.

I highly recommend this book to fans of penetrating underground networks, gothic thrillers, and mysteries.

I thank NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of The Society for my unbiased evaluation.  4 stars
