Secluded rural horror. Reluctantly, Nell Marin returns to a place where bad memories still linger. Nell and her son arrive to find the family’s lakeside cabin in a sad state of disrepair. The long summer days drag on as they ready the property for sale. A local Tribe suddenly barricades the only passage due to a grievance of land misuse. Nell had disturbing reasons for not wanting to come back, and now she can’t leave.
I recommend this book to fans of mysteries, slasher films, serial killers, cryptid characters, indigenous folklore, and nature horror.
I thank NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of Savage Lake for my unbiased evaluation. 3.5 stars
